Last weekend I was in New Orleans, Louisiana. Reason for the trip was to plan this year's WPC as well a IAMCP board meeting. I must say that this city is really ready for hosting the Worldwide Partner Conference 2009 (WPC)! They deserve our business!
The conference center has been refurbished and upgraded to a very high standard, the whole city has been painted and cleaned, the +900 restaurants serve better food than ever etc etc.
The police are everywhere and I feel safer here than in most other cities. I must also give compliments to New Orleans Police Dept as their officers are wonderful to speak with and know that they are not only protecting law and order but they are also ambassadors of the city.
I have of course visited the areas that were worst hit by flooding and of course you can see traces but most houses are refurbished or rebuilt. As a tourist of conference visitor you will not see any trace at all from the flooding.
It is just amazing how great this city is and how much energy and passion you find in people in the hospitality business.
People representing the local ICT sector tell stories about the inflow of companies that decide to relocate to New Orleans. I think that the ICT sector will grow substantially in New Orelasn and Baton Rouge as they have great ways to attract company investments.
There is no true recession in New Orleans because of the investments being made in rebuilding the city and I honestly feel that the great people of New Orleans deserve our business and I believe that everyone that come to WPC this July will share judgement!
