I rather have a cup of tea than a Google search!

Welcome back from a well deserved holiday break!

Going green is something that should be everyone's concern! Today I heard today that scientists at Harvard University claim searching twice on Google consumes the same amount of energy as boiling two cups of tea! This is really food for thought and everyone has a responsibility for consuming less energy.

As more services are being delivered from data centers it is important to really look at equipment that consumes less and locations that are naturally cooled [Washington State rather than New Mexico]. Aspects like this are important for cost and as the price of energy goes up it will be even more important in the future. But equally important is to be nice citizens and to make sure that we save as much energy as possible and I predict that more and more customers will ask their 'cloud vendors' about not only how they try to save energy but also how the energy that they use is being produced.

So if you are in the 'cloud business' this year - and you should be - then try to think about aming yourself a little bit greener!
